Planning Importance

Planning is a very important concept that helps students and teacher to reach their goals. Good planning involves allocating the use of time, choosing appropriate content and methods of instruction, creating student interest, and building a productive building environment. Careful planning by teachers can lead to smoothly running classrooms. Beginning teachers might found it difficult to plan because the process of planning cannot be observed. However, it is very important for teachers to plan before entering any class, planning outlines the standard and the content to be taught, motivational techniques to be used, specific steps and activities for students, and evaluation processes. Planning is like a map that direct the teacher’s moves in the class. Planning is very important to manage the class and the concepts discussed in that class. It is very important to manage the time and the tasks that should be discussed before entering every session. Also it is very important to make a daily plan in order to meet students’ needs.

Gifted Students

Presence of gifted students in classroom may sometimes cause problems. Gifted students have good characteristics like having curiosity for learning, learn quickly, are creative, have high levels of thinking, etc… But such students get bored easily ad start to disrupt the class once the teacher tend to repeat the idea for others or talk in details about certain concept.  They feel always confident and they criticize others, they dominate in group and always show off. Teachers must familiarize themselves with the characteristics of gifted students and try to plan for them extracurricular activities. Teachers might ask these students to help their peers in order not to get bored. Thus teacher should be always updating her repertoire of teaching strategies to match the gifted students’ needs.

Harmless microbes

For many people, the word germ and microbe bring to mind a group of tiny creatures that are harmful to our body. We usually tend to associate microbes with diseases or infections, however some microbes are beneficial. In our body there are beneficial microbes at the level of the large intestine hat help in food digestion anhd of them help in the production of vitamins K and B. Good microbes live in association with human body, they protect against harmful microbes, this is ensured by competition. God microbes will take nutrients and required condition of life depriving the bad microbes from them, this decreases the chance of infection. In case of taking antibiotics, these harmful microbes will die. This will lead to problems in digestion, deficiency in vitamins K and B, and sometimes bleeding. Thus some microbes which are the tiny creatures that cannot be seen by naked eye may help our body in doing its job in a good way.

New Curricula

The major problem facing teachers is that they are using a curriculum that is based on factual knowledge. Teaching students only facts will limit them and make them easily lost. Curriculum designer should make a shift from topic based to concept based curriculum. Concepts are wider and more comprehensive, it include all facts and it allow students to relate these facts together. Concept-based curriculum will allow student to transfer knowledge and to be more creative. Also it will stimulate their critical thinking. Curriculum designers should design new curriculum based on new standars. It is very important that students as well as teachers to participate in setting these standards to make them more suitable. Our society is in need to students thinking critically to improve and enhance our lives, this is accomplished mainly when we tend to design for students a suitable curriculum allowing them to transfer their knowledge to the surrounding environment.

Parenting a Dyslexic Child

People think that only doctors have the ability to cure patients suffering from certain disease, but this is not true especially in case of dyslexia. Parents play an important role in curing their children from such disease. Dyslexia is a neurological disease that is characterized by difficulties in reading and in recognizing words and letters. Usually children suffering from such disease require specific way in dealing with them since they are very sensitive and easily affected by people around them. I used to see my aunt dealing with her dyslexic child. She faced many difficulties but by using specific ways she succeed in curing her child. When you follow certain ways and find the most suitable one’s and makes your child entertained and by giving him more attention you could help him in defeating his disease. Explore the things that make your child feel entertained, give your child the enough time to understand everyday skills, and finally try to find suitable ways that allow your child read better.

Involvement of Cooperative Learning in Classroom

It's not about having a group of students sitting together, or about having one or two students dominating the discussion or the work. Cooperative learning differs from group work, since the last is only about having students work together without being a team aiming all together to reach their goal. When students tend to work together there should be a face-to-face interaction, division of labor, each students is assigned to specific role etc... Cooperative learning is very important since it enhances student achievement and allows students to be more engaged and interested in accomplishing certain task.
Cooperative learning is proved to help students especially the minority and the low socioeconomic groups, since such students would feel that they are involved in the activities done in classroom, and that they are not excelled due to the competition that occurs normally while discussing things. Cooperative learning helps in facilitating the explanation of the lesson and gives students positive attitudes toward schooling.

Curriculum update

A curriculum offers teachers a guideline for assessing student progress in addition to giving students an understanding of what is required in order to obtain a degree or any other qualification. Curriculum must not be static; it must be constantly changing according to changing needs and demands of the society. Thus the updated curricula must fulfill the needs of the society. For this purpose educators must evaluate the curricula and try to update it every 4 years. Although it’s commonly known that curricula should be updated every four years, in Lebanon the last update was done in 1999 (15 years ago). Having suitable curricula will help the teacher as well as the students to achieve more and have a higher performance. Educators must evaluate curricula and write recommendations that enable them to enhance the book in order to meet students’ needs. Thus criticizing any book is very important and allows educators to know the good and the weak points, so that they can enhance the good points and work on the weak points to fulfill students’ needs.

Education in Early Years

Learning starts from the day we are born, early years of life are the most important for learning. Thus it is important to give the child the opportunity to learn and have fun. Children are born ready to learn and they are interested in the world around them. we should provide children with enough time to let them learn important skills important for their lives and that influence their behavior and education. Parenting styles, health, gender, family relationships all are factors that influence the child's ability to learn and understand skills. When the child experience things in a positive way this will stimulate the development of the brain in an healthy way. So the experiences the child has in the early years can either support learning or interfere with it. Since the brain is the only organ that is not fully formed at birth, and that during the first three years trillions of connections between brain cells are made. Children experiences and their relationships has a great influence on the brain growth.

Using Active board in classroom

Active boards are gaining popularity in these days, and they are becoming essential tool in every classroom. Using such boards in classroom facilitate teacher explanation to the content since she will be able to display images and modify them using a pen. Also since it’s connected to the computer, teacher can run on applications and use them to vary her learning style. All forms of media could be seen in the active board Learners usually feel more comfortable when they see images about the concept taught. Teacher feels more comfortable using this kind of boards since its cleaner for them. Also using this board, teachers may introduce some games by the aid of such board. This technological tool could make the education process simpler and perhaps even more productive.

Novice Teachers

When we all entered the domain of teaching we faced a lot of difficulties and obstacles. Our colleagues, instructors, administration all may influence our work positively or negatively. One of the most important problems that a novice teacher may face is that her colleagues and the administration predict from her to do a professional work, although she may have a lot of skills but she still miss having a good experience. When they tend to deal with her in this way she might feel that she’s not ready for teaching or that she need more time to be a good teacher. In contrast when they tend to support her and encourage her to work hard the process will become much easier. Novice teachers need to attend a lot of work shops and training sessions that may help her be well prepared so she could enter teaching domain with a lot of self confidence.
