It is very important for dyslexia child’s parents of to be supportive. Becoming angry with such child will only cause him to develop low self-esteem. More than likely, the child will know he cannot read as well as others in his class, and it will help if the parents explain to him what dyslexia is. When the child has homework, provide a quiet place for him to work. To better help him, parents need to stay in touch with his teachers. Make sure the teacher is aware of any new problems the child has. As dyslexic children take more time than normal children to understand things, parents should talk to the teachers and trainers to give children more time so that they are able to learn things properly and cope with difficult situation.
ReplyDeleteI think dyslexia is not just an academic or individual problem but it is also a problem that concerns with the whole family. The child who has difficulty in reading affects the family as a whole. Families should not deny or hide the problem. Instead, they should recognize and accept the problem in order to find solutions. The family needs to cooperate with the school and teachers to meet the needs of dyslexic children and accommodate this disability.
ReplyDeleteIt's just like normal children, children facing dyslexia can be successful in life but with a little patience and hope. It's a little challenging, but not impossible to see your child becoming better than normal children. There are many ways that help parents cope with a dyslexic child.
ReplyDeleteGiving more attention and time for these children, let them take their sweet time to complete their duties, parents should understand the child's skills and motivate the child to develop them, so giving the child more time in the activities he likes is important. Also, adopting a suitable approach is another way parents can use to deal with dyslexic child. In fact, it's possible that your child find it easy to learn with a different approach, so try to educate child to use word games, puzzles, audio visual clips...parents can try new methods other than those used with the normal children and they should never compare the child with his siblings because this make him mentally weak.
Parents play an important role in curing their children form this neurological disease, but we should not forget the role of the school and teachers in helping those children. Class teachers need to have understanding of the problems that might face dyslexic child within the classroom, the teacher should create an atmosphere suitable for their levels and abilities. With positive encouraging, a dyslexic child will experience the feeling of success and self-esteem. Giving more time, attention and being patient are very necessary when dealing with them.
