When we all entered the domain of
teaching we faced a lot of difficulties and obstacles. Our colleagues,
instructors, administration all may influence our work positively or
negatively. One of the most important problems that a novice teacher may face
is that her colleagues and the administration predict from her to do a
professional work, although she may have a lot of skills but she still miss
having a good experience. When they tend to deal with her in this way she might
feel that she’s not ready for teaching or that she need more time to be a good
teacher. In contrast when they tend to support her and encourage her to work
hard the process will become much easier. Novice teachers need to attend a lot
of work shops and training sessions that may help her be well prepared so she
could enter teaching domain with a lot of self confidence.
Passing from university to practical life is a very difficult step required you to work hard in order to emphasize that nothing is impossible .You have to face all the challenges that stand in the way of your progress .
ReplyDeleteThat's right farah, but don't miss that no one born skillful and specially teachers. Being a skillful teacher is not easy as we think and couldn't be buy or taken by heredity. Skillful teacher are made and not born, they learn the skills that they use.So its normal for teacher to start as novice one and through practice and developing skills move to the skillful level.
ReplyDeleteI didn't experience teaching yet, and I think that the first session I will give will be the most difficult one as most teachers say. This is because they are new to this job and they now nothing about their students. Thus novice teachers in this situation hope to have help from the experienced teachers and form the administration; but for the bad luck, the novice teachers face many challenges from those they are expected to help them. Although we are learning too many things in the TD courses that could be very helpful for the teachers in the classrooms but still we worry about our first experience that we hope to be supported through.
ReplyDeleteNew teachers have many challenges that they face each day. So effective teacher training programs such as our TD courses and the observation we did, also the work shops can prepare the teachers and provide them with the greatest chance of success. However, I don't think that these can prepare teachers for every thing they might face, or to become a professional in teaching, it may help in dealing with many common problems teachers can face, so teachers feel more confident.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's important for a teacher to have back ground but we should keep in mind that "Teaching is a skill that is always in progress".
A novice teacher isn't just a nickname. Being a teacher for the first year wasn't an easy experience. I would come home crying sometimes while in the other times I would just feel like I just DON'T want to teach anymore! I thought of leaving school at many moments because the challenges were bigger than anyone's power. I believe there should be certain SUPPORT associations that guide and protect novice teachers. Your power as a teacher doesn't show in your GPA, you are tested as a real teacher inside the classroom when you are left alone with your students.
ReplyDeleteYes, I always worry about this issues, I believe I should work hardly to be a good teacher, I need a lot of training to be an effective teacher, and I would like to work with little kids because I have experience with them and feel comfortable when I deal with them, yet I expect that I will have some difficulties at the first step
